NECW Announces TV Deal with Comcast SportsNet

In front of a sold out crowd on the occasion of its 9th anniversary, New England Championship Wrestling announced that it will be making its television debut with a weekly one hour broadcast on Comcast SportsNet New England beginning January 2010.

At the start of NECW’s BIRTHDAY BASH 9: RAGE IN A CAGE, All of NECW stars and staff surrounded the ring. NECW’s owners addressed the crowd and played a video of the official announcement from NECW ownership and management, along with Comcast SportsNet executives.

In making the announcement, NECW Co-Owner & Promoter, Sheldon Goldberg said, “I do not hesitate to say that this is the biggest moment in the 9 year history of our company. Since New England Championship Wrestling was founded back in August of 2000, one of our most important goals was to find a vehicle to bring our brand of professional wrestling to television viewers throughout New England.

This announcement today doesn’t just give NECW that vehicle. It gives us the Rolls Royce of vehicles. Comcast SportsNet is the premiere name in regional sports television and we could not be happier to make our television home here.”

New England Championship Wrestling will be airing on Friday afternoons from 4 to 5 PM EST beginning Friday, January 8, 2010.

Comcast SportsNet is available throughout the six New England states in approximately 4.8 million homes and nationally in roughly 38 million homes.

WWW Has Big Future Says Goldberg

NECW/WWW President, Sheldon Goldberg says he gets e-mails and questions from fans all the time.  "They want to know about World Women's Wrestling and when we're going to run more WWW shows," says Goldberg.

"The answer I want our fans to know is that World Women's Wrestling is not a forgotten or abandoned brand.  We continue to recognize the World Women's Wrestling championship on our NECW events and with NECW preparing for its television debut in January 2010, World Women's Wrestling has a big future on the horizon."

WWW 2nd Anniversary Double DVD Available Now!

NECW Home Video presents World Women's Wrestling's 2nd Anniversary Spectacular, a special 2 disc DVD set from the event which took place on March 9, 2008 at Good Time Emporium in Somerville, MA.

The double disc set features a main event second to none in WWW history:  WWW Champion Lexxus defending her coveted gold and red belt against "The Portuguese Princess" Ariel, who has vowed to retire if she does not win the match.  This was a wild battle with a shocking ending!
